MUNGER: The Munger police on Monday seized a large number of Maoist handbills, pamphlets, posters and banners from two panchayats of Haveli Kharagpur block and two villages of Dharhara block. Apart from these, posters and pamphlets were also found scattered on the premises of Sakhaul primary school in Sakhaul village and several areas falling under Larayatanr and Dharhara police stations, which were also seized by the police.
Police sources from Haveli Kharagpur block said, in the pamphlets and posters pasted in many areas of the district, Maoists have threatened to take revenge on police for sending their five activists to gallows. “Be prepared for tit for tat…” read one of the pamphlets.
It may be mentioned here that five Maoists, accused of killing two CRPF jawans-- Sone Gawada and Ravindra Rai--near Saba Lakh Baba in Gangta forest area in April 2014, when they were on duty during the Lok Sabha polls, were awarded death sentence by the court of additional district and sessions judge Jyoti Swaroop Srivastava on May 25, this year.
Those awarded death sentence are Bipin Mandal, Adhik Lal Pandit, Rattu Kora, Bano Kora and Mannu Kora.
Incidentally, the judge who pronounced the verdict also received a threat letter allegedly sent by the Maoists. The letter was sent the very next day of the judgement.
Following recovery of these posters, SP Ashish Bharti has asked policemen across the district to be on alert.
